A honeymoon suite in the tranquil Lowveld

A Unique Stay at the Tussenklip Honeymoon Suite

I recently had the opportunity to stay at the Tussenklip Honeymoon Suite at the Fig Tree House in the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. Located in the Mastulu area, this curvy house and treehouse hybrid is nestled between two giant rocks in a nature reserve. The experience was truly one-of-a-kind, and I’m excited to share my thoughts with you.

Getting There

To reach the Fig Tree House, I had to drive through the nature reserve and then navigate a gravel road for about 2 kilometers. The journey was scenic, but the isolation of the property was palpable. When I finally arrived, I was greeted by a picturesque walkway covered in trees, reminiscent of a jungle. At night, the walkway lit up, adding to the magical ambiance of the property.

The Property

The Tussenklip Honeymoon Suite is a marvel of design and engineering. The property boasts a cozy living room with a fireplace, perfect for snuggling up on chilly nights. The kitchen is fully furnished with modern appliances, and the entire property appears to run on a solar system, given its remote location. The attention to detail is impressive, with every aspect of the property seeming to blend seamlessly into the natural surroundings.

Layout and Amenities

The property is split into two levels, with a balcony on the upper level featuring a comfortable sitting area, table, and grill. The downstairs area includes a bedroom with a super-comfy bed, bathroom, toilet, and another balcony with breathtaking views of the nature reserve. There’s even a mini pool, although I didn’t venture into it due to the presence of monkeys in the area.

Challenges and Limitations

One of the biggest challenges of staying at the Fig Tree House was the lack of network coverage. While this could be seen as a blessing in disguise, it did make me feel a bit disconnected from the world. Additionally, the presence of monkeys around the property meant that I had to be mindful of my surroundings.

Rating and Recommendation

Overall, I would rate the Tussenklip Honeymoon Suite a 7.5 out of 10. While the property has its quirks and limitations, the unique experience and stunning natural surroundings make it a must-visit for anyone looking to get away from it all. If you’re a nature lover or someone who appreciates unique design, the Fig Tree House is definitely worth considering.
